FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything You Need to Know
HOW MANY DOGS CAN YOU HANDLE AT ONCE?
Although our team is very experienced handling multiple dogs, for wedding services, all packages include up to two dogs, with additional fees for 3 or more dogs. If there is over 3 dogs in attendance we will have additional team members at the wedding to help with handling.
ARE YOU COMFORTABLE HANDLING REACTIVE DOGS?
Absolutely. All of our team members have extensive experience handling and working with reactive and anxious dogs. We do expect for you to be open and honest about your dogs triggers and anxieties so that we can keep them as safe and as comfortable as possible and ensure the teams safety as well. For weddings, I typically recommend the Bronze Package for reactive dogs so that way we can manage to get some photos with them but keep them away from any large crowds, if that is a trigger for them.
WHAT IS YOUR WEATHER POLICY?
Since your wedding is still planned to move forward no matter the weather, we will be there too! We always take special considerations for the weather and make sure to pack extra towels and wipes in case of wet or muddy conditions. We also always pack extra water, cooling towels, and a fan for really hot days. We always account for extra travel time due to weather, and possible traffic. No matter the weather, weam prepared to celebrate with you and your fur-baby!
HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU BOOK PER DAY? AND WHAT DO YOU DO AT THE WEDDING?
We only book one wedding per team member per day. That way our entire day is focused on you and your dog and I am not rushed worrying about getting to another venue on time.

As a pet wedding chaperone, I am solely focused on your dog(s) or cat(s) at the wedding. We take them for a walk or hike before the wedding (depending if trails are available near by, otherwise we will do a neighbourhood walk) to make sure they are tired. We give them a quick brush and wipe down and get them ready for the wedding. We always arrive early to give them time to sniff around the venue and get familiar. During photos we will help the photographer get the attention of your pets and if they are included in the ceremony we am always close by to supervise that incase they need to be handed off.
DO YOU HAVE EMPLOYEES?
As of the 2025 we have added a new team member, Rachel. She is a former Royal Paws Pet Services wedding client and has ample experience handling reactive dogs. We also still have Karen as an employee, although she typically only handles smaller or senior dogs at the weddings. Both are listed on my insurance as a part time employees and are fully trained and covered to help handle the dogs. You can check out their bios on our team page (coming soon!).
IF MY DOG STAYS WITH YOU OVERNIGHT AS PART OF THE WEDDING PACKAGE, WILL ANY OTHER DOGS BE THERE?
Anytime we have other dogs spending the night as part of a wedding package they are the only dogs in the home. Ernest goes to spend the night with family, and Rachel's house is uniquely separated so that the dogs and her have a private space. Our priority is to make sure your dog feels safe and comfortable while they are in my care.

My cat Marlin will be here, but if your dog is not good with cats Marlin will stay locked in his room for the night - don't worry he has all his things in there anyways and won't be put out.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
I always recommend as soon as possible. If you know the date you are getting married and have secured your venue, than book your pet wedding chaperone! Dates fill up super fast, and I always hate having to turn away last minute bookings!
DO YOU HAVE TO MEET MY DOG FIRST?
For wedding services, we typically only do a virtual meet and greet unless your dog is very reactive or anxious. We understand an in person meet and greet is ideal but isn't always feasible due to location and time lines as well, which is why we ask you be very honest and open with us about your pet and their triggers, etc. We always book an initial discovery call to get an idea of your needs, than 3 months out from the wedding do another call to go over your client intake forms and any questions, schedules, etc. We will also always do a phone call with you a couple days before the wedding, to go over final schedules, contact information for an alternative contact, etc.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE BTS CONTENT?
For all our wedding packages we try to take some behind the scenes content of your pets enjoying the wedding day. We do not guarantee a set number of photos or videos as every pet is different, and some require more attention and handling than others, making it more difficult to take content.
The content will be provided in raw unedited format, but is fun to include in your social media posts, or to look back at for memories.
The content is provided through a shared Google Album, so please feel free to share the link with your friends, family, and wedding party or other wedding vendors.
DO YOU SEND UPDATES ON THE WEDDING DAY?
Absolutely! This is why on our final call we ask for alternative contact information (someone like a wedding coordinator, or a family member who is likely to have their phone on them). We send the updates to you as well, but know you won't be on your phone throughout the day.

Updates are always sent for:
-
When we are on the way to pick up your pet.
-
When we have arrived + successfully picked up the pet and are on the way to the venue (if you are not there with them).
-
When we have arrived at the venue (if you are not there yet).
-
When we have safely arrived back at the care destination for the evening.
-
An update before bedtime (if we are caring for your pet overnight).
-
An update before leaving for the night/ or in the morning.
-
An update the next day with a link to a Google Album of images.
