Why Hiring a Professional Wedding Dog Chaperone Might Be the Best Wedding Decision You Make

When most couples start planning their wedding, they quickly realize one thing.
Their dog has to be part of the day. After all, they've been there through first dates, moving into a new home, engagements, and every milestone in between. It only feels right to include them as you say "I do." But then reality sets in. Who is going to pick them up? Walk them before the ceremony? Make sure they have water? Keep them calm around hundreds of guests? Get them in photos? Take them home afterward?
That's where we come in.
At Royal Paws Pet Services, we specialize in professionally including pets in weddings across Ontario. Our entire job is making sure your dog is safe, comfortable, exercised, and cared for so you can focus on celebrating one of the biggest days of your life.
Your Guests Should Be Guests
One of the biggest mistakes we see is asking a family member or friend to be responsible for the dog. It sounds simple until they're trying to enjoy cocktail hour while holding a leash, rushing outside for potty breaks, or missing important moments because your dog needs attention.
Your wedding guests deserve to enjoy the day with you. Hiring a professional means everyone gets to be fully present, including the person who would have otherwise been responsible for your pet.
Weddings Can Be Overwhelming for Dogs
Even the most social dog can find weddings stressful.
There are unfamiliar people, loud music, children running around, photographers, decorations, new smells, and a schedule that is very different from their normal routine.
Our role isn't just to "watch the dog." We monitor their body language, provide decompression walks, make sure they have quiet time when needed, keep them hydrated, advocate for their comfort, and adjust our approach based on how they're feeling throughout the day.
Every dog is different, and we treat them that way.
We Come Prepared for Everything
Over the years we've learned that weddings rarely go exactly according to plan. That's why we always arrive prepared. Our wedding kit includes essentials like water bowls, towels, wipes, lint rollers, brushes, extra slip leads, squeakers for getting those perfect photo moments, high-value treats (with owner approval), poop bags, and plenty of backup supplies. It's the little details that help your day run smoothly.
Every Dog Deserves a Plan
No two weddings are alike. Some dogs are confident social butterflies. Others are puppies experiencing their first big event. Some are seniors who need medication or extra rest. Others are reactive and simply need a quieter approach.
Before every wedding, we meet with our couples virtually to learn everything about their pet, your timeline, and exactly how you'd like them included. For dogs with significant reactivity or bite concerns, we can arrange an in-person consultation so we can build the safest plan possible.
Our goal is never to force a dog into moments they aren't comfortable with. It's to create a plan that works for everyone.
More Than Just Photos
Of course we love capturing beautiful portraits. But some of our favourite moments happen in between. A quiet cuddle before the ceremony. A tail wag as your dog spots you in your wedding attire. A peaceful walk while guests enjoy dinner.
Those moments matter just as much as the perfectly posed photos.
Your Dog Is Family
At the end of the day, that's what this is really about.
Your wedding should include the people and pets who matter most to you.
We're simply here to make that possible while giving you complete peace of mind.
